Just five lines
the shortest post I've ever written
1300lb. This is how many pounds of potatoes my local In-N-Out goes through in one day.
Mortadella and stracciatella on milk bread. This is is a highly elevated ham and cheese sandwich that is now my six-year-old’s favourite sandwich. But only if the mortadella and stracciatella are from the cheese guy at the farmers’ market.
Boysenberry and ginger compote. This is one of the best things I have ever made/eaten. A punnet of boysenberries, a few strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. A thumb-sized knob of ginger, peeled and chopped. A bit of sugar. Simmered in a saucepan until it reached compote consistency. Heaven.
Six-inch chocolate cake. My eight-year-old made a chocolate cake from scratch for Father’s Day. It was the same cake that she made last year but even more beautifully decorated this year. I think we have stumbled on a tradition.
Cancelled. My bean club membership and my Pasturebird chicken subscription are no more. There are only a handful of weeks left of the farmers’ market and my CSA box. Adventures await.
